DE HAVILLAND 98 MOSQUITO
Mosquito B.Mk XVI (Medium Bomber/Pathfinder) circa 1944

The B.Mk XVI was a developement of the "high-altitude" B.Mk IX with its
pressurized cabin, extra fuel and a comprehensive navigational equipment
for which all gun armament was removed.
In March '44 the Mk XVI began replacing the 4000lb "bomb-carrying" Mk IV
that had an enlarged bombay converted for loading the block-buster dubbed
the "cookie".
This was Bomber Commands first LC bomb, that weighed 4000 pounds. Was a
welded drum of thin mild steel, painted dark olive and fitted with three
windmill armed fuses on its front face. The cases were filled by pouring
in molten RDX, an explosive which was simple and safe to manufacture and
possessed an extremely powerful blast effect which has been especially
designed and enhanced by Moggy for your bombing missions.
The appearance of the required bulged bombay that enabled this heavy-bomb
was being recreated but due to hex-editing anomalies has been excluded so
the player may have access to this variant now but its updated appearance
may be expected.
